A Girl Called Eddy - Press Release, August 2004

New Jersey-born singer/songwriter Erin Moran (AKA ‘Eddy’) releases her second single ‘The Long Goodbye’ on Anti on September 27th. (Cat: 1179)

The lead track is lifted from her critically acclaimed debut album, and has been remixed by Kevin Bacon & Jonathan Quarmby (whose credits include David Bowie, The Stands, Nitin Sawhney, Ian Brown and Finley Quaye’s award-winning first album). It is backed by a new Eddy composition ‘Under The Warm Sun’ (an uncharacteristic sunny West Coast song), and a live radio session version of recent single ‘Heartache’. The single is available on CD only.

A Girl Called Eddy will be playing three headline shows in the UK before setting off on a tour of the US, where the album has just been released to rapturous reviews. The gig details are:

27th September Manchester Life Café
28th September London Bush Hall
29th September Birmingham Glee Club

“she exhibits gorgeously gauged soul and shrewdness on a record- and we don’t say this lightly- sounds like a new Karen Carpenter album" **** Uncut

"Moran materialises like some time-warped gene-splicing of Dusty Springfield and Chrissie Hynde with a Bacharach and David-style songbook full of sweetly painful love songs" **** Q

''Remarkable songwriting...steeped in 60's classicism-a voice that could've given Dusty Springfield a run for her money" **** MOJO

“think Burt Bacharach composing for Nancy Sinatra with the Velvet Underground as backing band, or Ennio Morricone and Tom Waits writing saloon songs for Marianne Faithfull” CMJ
