New single ‘Captain Kirk’ out 6th March

Michigan-born and Austin-based singer songwriter Bob Schneider releases ‘Captain Kirk’ on March 6th as the lead-off single from his forthcoming album ‘I’m Good Now’.

‘Captain Kirk’ seems a good choice of song to introduce Bob to the UK. It possesses a summery charm and dreamy idealism in the same vein as contemporary acoustic magicians Jack Johnson and Nizlopi.

This uplifiting, quirky lyricism propelled it to be named Best Song at the SXSW Music Awards 2005. In fact, its one of twelve categories that Bob has won at the annual award show over the past three years. Something which, alongside his infamous and sensational live shows, makes him a musical king pin of his artsy locale.

His hero status isn’t restricted to his hometown however - ‘I’m Good Now’ has already sold 100,000 copies across the US via Vanguard Records, and Bob has had music featured in several major film soundtracks including ‘Miss Congeniality’, ‘Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back’, ‘40 Days and 40 Nights’, and ‘The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood’. He also has an impressive Myspace following, with 7,000 friends and upwards of 70,000 hits – and counting...

In addition, he has peaked at number 12 on the Radio & Records charts in America, and can even boast the odd celebrity fan such as Sandra Bullock and Jay Leno - who has personally invited Schneider to play on his legendary late-night television show.

‘Captain Kirk’ is already being played by 6 Music’s Phill Jupitus and will be available on CD from all good record shops, and for download via www.measuredrecords.com and all major download sites.
