CoStar - Press Release, September 2004
CoStar release debut album – 1st November 2004
London based band CoStar release their debut album ‘Keep it Light’ on 1st November via Popfiction. (Cat no: PF5).
Singer songwriter and wannabe cowboy Brighton Gay grew up in Bergen, on the freezing west coast of Norway, on an unlikely diet of Black Sabbath and T-Rex. He relocated to London in 2001 and here formed the definitive CoStar line-up with Reno Nevada (drums), Johnny ‘Oksen’ Bull (lead guitar) and Dusty Domino (bass).
Combining Americana with electronica, CoStar lace their sunny Teenage Fanclub harmonies and melodies with Pixies and Depeche Mode influences.
.
This year, the band played the acclaimed North by North East festival in Toronto and two successful New York shows, including one at the Mercury Lounge.
Already receiving rave reviews in Norway, ‘Keep It Light’ includes the band’s favourite tracks from 2003’s ‘Brothers in Crime’ EP plus six new songs. Current single 'Falling at My Feet' is playlisted on XFM and has been picked by influential LA radio station Indie 103.1fm as their ‘International Single of the Week’.
‘will appeal to the lovers of Royksopp, Kings Of Convenience and the wee Magnet fella… they might join their exalted brethren soon.’ – Max Bell, Record Collector
‘CoStar have mastered the art of catchy pop with breathtaking ease…gorgeous dreamy melodies and irresistible hooks’ - BBC Radio One online
