Mono Band - Press Release, September 2005
Mono Band to support Gemma Hayes on UK dates
You will hear something familiar about Noel Hogan's Mono Band: the trademark ringing guitars and fluid melodies bear the unmistakable imprint of his years with one of the world's most successful bands, The Cranberries.
But his new music sounds fresh and different, too. From the subtle electronic touches and inventive programming to the wide and varied range of singers who give voice to his songs on Mono Band's debut album.
The self-titled album and a single Run Wild have already been released to great acclaim in Ireland and are due out in the US early next year. Live appearances in Ireland have included a rapturously received slot at the Oxegen Festival, where Noel was joined by Swedish singer Alexandra Hamnede and the album’s main male vocalist Richard Walters.
Mono Band have just been invited to join Gemma Hayes on tour, where Noel will appear acoustic with Richard:
Oct 3 Glasgow King Tuts
Oct 4 Birmingham Glee Club
Oct 5 Manchester Academy 3
Oct 6 London King’s College
"With any arty/experimental indulgences being reined in by Hogan's deft knack with a melody line, there's much to absorb and intrigue here as the layers of sound combine to produce resonant new music that has Mercury Music Prize written all over it. Surprising and very rewarding - side projects aren't supposed to be as good as this." – Irish Times
