Palomino - Press Release, October 2004
Glasgow-based 4 piece Palomino release their ridiculously catchy new single ‘Already Waiting / Doppelganger Life’ on Nov 15 th through Console Sounds (Cat: Cons06).
The band have been honing their sun-drenched harmonies and classic hook-laden sound over the past year, and have recorded their debut album with Canadian producer Tom McKay (Five Guys Named Moe) in Glasgow and Toronto. The album was mixed and mastered in LA by Ron St Germain (Jimi Hendrix, Smokey Robinson, Creed, 311 and Mos Def) and Joe Gastwirt(Jerry Garcia, Jimi Hendrix) respectively.
Palomino are based around the songwriting axis of childhood friends Marco Rea (vocals/acoustic guitar) and Michael McDaid (bass, keys, BVs), with the line up completed by guitarist Johnny McGlynn and drummer Seamus Simon. Influences include Buffalo Springfield, Dylan and The Beatles, whilst comparisons have also been made to Love.
This year has seen them supporting Keane at the infamous Mod club in Toronto and playing T In The Park and In The City. ‘Already Waiting’ is their first full release, following on from successful limited-edition EPs and vinyl singles, and is a calling card for the album which is due in early 2005.
