Trashcan Sinatras
New Single
Wild Mountainside’
12th December 05
Picnic Records
(Pic EP 003)

Hot on the heels of the release of their 21 track live album ‘Fez’ and Scottish theatre tour, Glasgow’s Trashcan Sinatras release ‘Wild Mountainside’ as a Christmas single on December 12th.

The song ‘Wild Mountainside’ was written by Trashcans rhythm guitarist John Douglas and first recorded by his partner Eddi Reader on her ‘Songs of Robert Burns’ album - indeed it was the only non Robert Burns composition on the album. Eddi went on to sing it before the Queen at the historic formal opening of the Scottish Parliament in September 2004.

Since then, its symbolic and universal themes of hope have seen the song acquire a cult status in Scotland, where it is often sung en masse at public and private gatherings such as funerals and weddings.

The Trashcans first played the song live in New York City last December - a performance captured on ‘Fez’. The single features their first studio version of the song –typically tender and yearning, it was recorded in Glasgow in October 2005 and features Roddy Hart on piano and John McCusker on strings.

The CD will also feature new live versions of ‘Freetime’ and the epic ‘What Women Do To Men’, both originally from the recent acclaimed ‘Weightlifting’ album. (‘a work of unshowy genius’ – Word Magazine)

The single will also be available as a download at www.picnicrecords.co.uk
