Trashcan Sinatras
FEZ

Riding a renewed wave of interest and critical acclaim sparked by their latest studio album Weightlifting, Glasgow’s Trashcan Sinatras return with their second release of the year. Recorded at the renowned Fez club in New York City over two early December dates, this 21 track live acoustic album captures the band at their tender and heart-warming best.

They had just begun an ecstatically received 2-week coast-to-coast acoustic tour of the USA when they arrived in a cold, rainy New York. They rehearsed in the lyrical surrounds of playwright / composer Arnold Weinstein’s Chelsea Hotel apartment, where Arthur Miller had hung out the previous weekend and Dylan Thomas had once spent his last days.

US critics have already noted that you can sense the atmosphere of Christmas season New York in the band’s relaxed performance - ‘as if a light snowfall was cascading through the basement windows’. Indeed, Jack Rabid of The Big Takeover remarked, “This is as good as their best two LPs, 1993’s “I’ve Seen Everything” and 2004’s Weightlifting - warm, intimate, personal, friendly”. Fez comprises 7 tracks from Weightlifting, 2 new songs and 12 from the 3 1990’s Go! Discs albums – Cake, I’ve Seen Everything and A Happy Pocket.

In the last 15 months, the Trashcan Sinatras have performed at 2 SXSW festivals, toured the US 3 times (selling out 3 LA Troubadour shows in 2 days) and played to 1000 people at a show in Tokyo. The band will be playing at Summer Sundae and at various Scottish festivals before embarking on a UK tour in September. Here’s what some of the UK critics said recently about Weightlifting:

Tender, wise, compassionate and magnanimous, it's a special, special record for anyone who has ever hurt - James McNair, Mojo

Weightlifting is a work of unshowy genius - Craig McLean, Word Magazine

achingly pretty - Peter Paphides, Observer Music Monthly

lush and lovely - Stephen Trousse, Uncut
