William Hut – Versus The End Of The Fashion Park
Paraphernalia Records
UK release date: 31/01/2005
Cat: PAWHCD 0105
William Hut is a singer songwriter from Bergen and former vocalist with the “Scandinavian Coldplay”, Poor Rich Ones. In his solo work he takes their ethereal pop to its minimalist conclusion. Like Kings Of Convenience, he has spun a Simon & Garfunkel disc or two in his time, and he shares their innocently emotive vocal style.
‘Versus The End Of Fashion Park’ has already been a Top 20 album in Norway and produced two radio hits. A record that’s varyingly glacial, mythic and visionary, it combines a fine-tuned sense of space with lush arrangements, and the occasional radio-friendly hit (first single It’s the Breeze).
Co-produced by Bjorn Ivar Tysse of Bergen basement studio, RUC90, ‘Fashion Park’ is a natural progression from his first solo album ‘Roadstar Doolittle’ which received great reviews in the UK on import:
“William Hut exquisitely follows a heartsick sonic trajectory, infinitely sad and nocturnal, yet uplifting rather than depressing. This is a real find. ****” Q Magazine
