Xavier Floyd Firebird - Press Release, January 2005
Debut single ‘Boss Man, You Scare Me’ out on Feb 14th
Xavier Floyd Firebird unleash their debut single ‘Boss Man, You Scare Me’ on Feb 14th via Long Live Rock And Roll / Global Warming.
The band formed in 2003 and comprises Danny Floyd (vocals, guitars), Paul Floyd (vocals, bass) and Kenboy Leonard (drums). They grew up in Zambia and New Zealand yet all now reside in their birthplace, Southampton.
The single was produced by Phil Vinall (Placebo, Elastica, Six by Seven) and has been receiving play on XFM from John Kennedy and Ian Camfield. Lead track ‘Boss Man…’ is Danny’s ‘tongue in cheek take on George W. Bush’ and was written whilst watching CNN in the early hours.
The band have supported Six By Seven, The Departure, Blackwire and X is Loaded, and have a 26 date UK tour booked throughout late Jan and Feb. Their second single is due out in May and the album will be released at the end of the year.
'angsty, twisted indie with a smattering of gravely Cable-esque shouts. Moments of Muse, blended with The Cooper Temple Clause and chopped up with Stooges influences – Xavier Floyd Firebird have some incredibly catchy hooks and instantly memorable tunes.' - Drowned in Sound
‘Boss Man, You Scare Me’ is released on CD (Cat: llrrcds001) and vinyl (Cat: llrrvs002)
