Melissa Etheridge at Hammersmith Apollo, July 26th
Press Release June 24th
This July, Grammy award-winning singer songwriter Melissa Etheridge will be playing her first full-band electric show in the UK for some years. A two-and-a-half-hour set will showcase music spanning her impressive eight-album career.
Her current album ‘Lucky’ has surprised some with its upbeat, sexy and optimistic tone and celebratory themes around the joy of new-found love - quite a turnaround from 2001’s darker ‘Skin’.
Etheridge herself says, "I think the biggest difference is the difference in me, personally. ‘Skin’ was the bottom, but since then I have met the most amazing woman ever, got myself together and found a centre of a place to stand where I love myself and made my life good for me. I started writing and performing from a place of, 'Oh, I feel good, this is fun, I feel sexy."
Currently performing in her native US, Melissa and band will be playing across Europe in July, taking in shows in Amsterdam, Berlin and Munich before the tour – mischievously nicknamed the ‘Get Lucky Tonight’ tour – culminates with the London Hammersmith show.
The show starts at 7.30pm and tickets are £45 from the following outlets: 0870 771 2000, Way Ahead 0207 403 3331, Stargreen 0207 734 8932, Ticketmaster 0207 344 4040. Or online from www.wayahead.com
